Baby Grace, Riley Ann Sawyers – Mentor OH – Found 10/29/07 (Updated 01/22/09)

01/22/09 – Jury selection began on January 21, 2009 in the trial of Kimberly Trenor, mother of Riley Ann Sawyers, aka “Baby Grace”, in Galveston.  Testimony is expected to begin on January 27.  Kimberly Trenor and her husband, Royce Zeigler, are charged with capital murder in  Riley Ann’s death.  Zeigler’s trial has not yet been set.

Texas EquuSearch would like to take this time to extend our deepest gratitude to the law enforcement agencies of Galveston County, and the FBI who worked so hard to identify this precious child and return her to her loving family.  Their tireless efforts, along with those of the District Attorney’s Office, have enabled this case to be brought to trial at this time.  Over the last year, the tremendous work and support of agencies such as BACA, (Bikers Against Child Abuse), and the love shown by local citizens in this case, show how deeply the members of the community care about our children.

Most importantly, we ask that everyone please keep Riley’s grandmother, Sheryl Sawyers, and her father, Robert Sawyers, along with her other extended family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.  Once again, the horrible story will play out for all to hear, and the family’s suffering will deepen.  As they struggle through the next few weeks, we hold them warmly in our hearts with deep affection and faithfully in our prayers.

Baby Grace, between the ages of 3-5 was found on Monday, October 29, 2007 on the west/south-west side of Galveston Island. She was wearing size 8.5 shoes (shown) and a matching pink shirt and skirt.  11/29/2007 – One month after little Baby Grace’s body was found, we were able to keep our promise and return to the island to replace the name plaque bearing her name Riley Ann Sawyers. Galveston County Sheriff’s investigators were given the honor to do this. May she now rest in eternal peace. Please keep Robert and Sheryl Sawyers in your prayers during this horribly difficult time.

January 14, 2008 – Baby Grace is home. A generous offer was made by a private individual to transport the remains of Riley Ann Sawyers home to Ohio and she is now safely there. TES accompanied her remains on a private jet in a most dignified and honorable fashion. A small casket containing an urn holding her ashes was placed on the jet, secured, and covered with a blanket especially made for her with her name monogrammed in a lavender color. We are most gracious to this gentleman for his offer and were honored to be a part of this most special and important trip. Please continue to pray for this entire family and they continue to journey down this long road of healing.
