Prayers go out to the family of Barbie Tarr, Texas Equusearch volunteer search coordinator and Executive Assistant to Tim Miller. Her expectant daughter, Jessica, 25, was in a major auto accident Monday, March 16, 2009.
At the time of this writing Jessica will undergo surgery to repair lacerations and broken bones.

As of Tuesday, March 17, she is in University of San Antonio Hospital in critical but stable condition, with multiple broken bones. The baby is stable. Another round of surgeries are scheduled for this morning.

UPDATE FROM BARBIE:
Jessie had surgery last night on her facial and head injuries. There is no nerve damage or brain damage, and she is somewhat conscious. We have been able to speak with her some. She will have surgery on her arm and right leg, hopefully sometime today, but they must get her more stabilized first. Her left leg has a pin through it, and is in traction. The baby’s heartbeat is stable at this point, and we continue to pray that the baby is okay. Jessie is listed in critical but stable condition at this time. We are thankful that the angels rode with her yesterday.
I will send you a thank you note to post later, am just a bit too overwhelmed at the moment. So much love has been shown, and we are so eternally grateful.

MARCH 18, 2009 UPDATE:
This morning, Barbie reported that Jessica has been moved from ICU to a private room. Her condition has been upgraded from critical to good. She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow to repair the damage done to her leg. Jessica has been talking and was able to eat some Jello. Please keep Barbie and her family in your prayers. We will post an update when further information becomes available.
As of this evening, Jessica is doing extremely well. She is scheduled for surgery at 7:30 Thursday morning. She is resting comfortably, and in good spirits. There’s not a place on her body without scratches, scrapes, cuts and bruises, except for her heart. Her heart is still the loving heart it has always been, and she worries about everyone else; she doesn’t want to be a burden on the nurses, doesn’t want to be a bother, it makes her feel bad when she cries and the nurses worry about her. But that’s just Jessie. She’s kind to the nurses, never causes a problem, timidly asks for something as simple. as a drink of water because she can’t reach it due to the fact that she has casts, splints or metal rods going through 3 of her 4 appendages.
The baby continues to do well. Jessica is 15 weeks pregnant, so still very early in her pregnancy, but past the 1st trimester. There are still concerns about the baby due to all of the trauma caused to Jessica’s body, and going through surgery.
Wednesday, March 18 From Barbie:
Jessie came through the 5 hours of surgery like a champ. She was in terrible pain for a few hours afterward, understandably so. However, once the pain meds kicked in, she was much more comfortable and relaxed. We are hoping she gets a good night sleep tonight. The OB doctor came in tonight and checked the baby, and the little miracle continues to amaze us all…..very strong heartbeat was heard by all !!! How much more can one family be blessed?
We wish to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who has provided so much love and support during this crisis in our family. We are a strong and close family, and this has been devastating to all of us. The amount of support that we have received via your messages here, your emails, calls and text messages has been so overwhelming, in a very positive way. The Lord has truly blessed me, and my family, with friends such as you all, from near and far, known and unknown, and from groups such as BACA, the COF’s, my e dot com group, WS, and of course, Texas EquuSearch. My heart has been so full all week with your words of kindness and your show of concern, I would not have made it without you. To all of you, the “family of my heart”, I say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I have no other words that can adequately explain how I feel.

Sunday, March 22, 2009 – Jessie is improving with each passing day, although she is still in a lot of pain. The trauma of the injuries themselves combined with the trauma of so many surgeries at one time have left her body very weak. She is not eating much yet, but we hope that will begin to improve quickly. The baby’s heartbeat remains strong and steady. Her 3 year old is doing well, staying with us while Jessie is hospitalized. She does not yet know how hurt her mommy is, and we will have to contend with that soon. All in all, we are so thankful that all the injuries will heal in time, and that the baby seems to be fine. Thank you all for your prayers and concerns, we have no words to thank everyone for their support. Please be assured, the prayers are working !!
