10/20/09 — We have been invited to participate in the Texas City Music Fest by the Bay this Saturday, October 24, 2009, located in Nessler Park, 12:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. The festival is located in front of the Doyle Convention Center, 1801 9th Avenue North, Texas City.

We will be having a membership drive, doing fingerprinting, passing out brochures and telling people what TES is all about. We will have a table and canopy, but volunteers will need to bring their own chairs. We can start setting up at 8:00 a.m. Anyone working the TES booth will not have to pay the entrance fee. Additionally, anyone participating should wear their Texas EquuSearch t-shirt.

We would like to have 4 people at all times. Please email Sherry at sherry.mckinney@texasequusearch.org if you want to participate, indicating the times you can be there.

This year’s event offer a diverse musical experience, ranging from Blues and Zydeco to Classic Country. Headlining the event is the legendary Jerry Jeff Walker. Sharing the bill are “Mr. Rose Colored Glasses” himself, John Conlee, Texas Johnny Brown, Zydeco great, Step Rideau and Texas Blues Brothers Tribute Band.

The Fest focuses on a family atmosphere where children of all ages are able to come out and enjoy good clean fun. Activities for kids include a “Kids Zone” with several moon walks, rock wall, face painting, pony rides, smoke/safety house and much more.

Along with all the great music, Fest patrons enjoy arts and crafts booths, the aromas of funnel cakes, sausage, BBQ, fajitas and cold drinks freshly prepared by our vendors. Since we offer a wide variety of food and beverage at the event, no food, beverage or glass containers will be permitted to enter the gates.
