We would like to set the record straight on behalf of Brian Reed’s family. They have been criticized, along with Brian, for behavior that has been misunderstood. Unfortunately, we cannot choose our diseases – whether it’s Alzheimer’s, dementia, cancer or paranoid schizophrenia. Brian Reed suffered from schizophrenia, and was off his medication. His family contacted law enforcement in hopes of getting Brian located so they could get him the help he so deserved. His actions of fleeing from law enforcement are a direct result of his illness, and nothing more. Please respect this family – it could be your family next. Unfortunately, my own daughter, Laura, suffered from some mental issues as a result of a seizure disorder. I know the feeling when no one was there to help me search for my daughter. It was 17 long months before her remains were discovered. We invite everyone to visit our website at www.txeq.org and see that probably 50% of our searches involve people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, paranoid schizophrenia or some other disease. All missing people deserve to be found. Instead of criticizing the underprivileged, we invite everyone to help us search for these missing loved ones. God loves them all the same.

01/19/11 — Tim Miller traveled to Louisiana last night, and will begin the search for Brian Reed this morning. The Silvetti Group out of Lafayette, LA will be assisting Mr. Miller. They will be using side-scan sonar, starting in the area of the Mississippi where Mr. Reed was last seen. Please keep Mr. Reed’s family in your prayers during this very difficult time.

01/18/11 — Brian Reed, age 29, was last seen on Friday, January 7, 2011, around 10:30 a.m. in the River Road area of St. Rose, LA. Brian was last seen wearing a light green Polo shirt and blue jeans.
