TES New Member Orientation and Training, Saturday, April 16, 2011

Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery New Member Orientation and Training will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011. The location for the class room training will be at the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Station No. 2, located at 711 Pasadena Blvd, East, Deer Park, Texas (see link to map below). Orientation will begin at 8:30 a.m. — please be on time.  The training class will start at 9:00 a.m. — we will have a guest speaker (to be determined), and we hope to complete our field activity by 4:30 p.m. The afternoon portion will be a field exercise, so please wear appropriate search clothing and shoes. PLEASE BRING A SACK LUNCH AND WATER as there will not be time to go out for lunch. Class sizes are limited — to register, contact Sherry McKinney at sherry.mckinney@texasequusearch.org.

PLEASE NOTE…… Parking is available BEHIND the fire station, ON THE GRASS AREA ONLY, and in front of the class room building which sits at the BACK of the three building complex.

VERY IMPORTANT….Parking will be allowed ONLY on this grassy area and NOT anywhere on or off the shoulder of the shell road that circles the complex. This road is used for the Fire Departments emergency vehicles and we CANNOT block their travel.

Due to the fact we search so often for Alzheimer victims, it was my thought that we should have an expert in that field to speak to our members. This will enhance, I believe, our search efforts and better assist us in directing our recourses when on such a search.

All TES members, both new and “vetrans” should be encouraged to attend this most worthwhile informative presentation. It will make ALL of us better TES searchers in our on-going efforts to serve the public.

Speaker: Ms. Katie Olson
Lead Education Coordinator
Alzheimer’s Association
Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter

Ms. Olson is a certified Master Trainer for the National Alzheimer’s Association.
