07/14/11 — The funeral arrangements have been made for Matthew Arzate, as follows: Visitation — Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Mission Park North Funeral Home, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio TX 78230, between 1:00 p.m. and 9 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 — Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst, San Antonio TX 78213. Inerment to follow at First Memorial Cemetery in Von Ormy, TX.
07/12/11 — It is with heavy hearts that we report the body of Matthew Arzate has been recovered. We want to give a special thank you to Dennis and Tammy Watters of Team Watters, our sonar experts, who located and recovered Matthew’s body. This search was a very difficult one due to the extreme heat and the conditions of Canyon Lake. We would like to thank The Texas Parks & Wildlife, Corp. of Engineers, Comal County Sheriff’s Office, New Braunfels Fire Department Dive Team, the SMART Dive Team and the Texas EquuSearch volunteers who worked so diligently on the search. A special thank you goes to Texas EquuSearch volunteer Paulie Kovach who was on the search from the very beginning. The gate keepers were wonderful to all of our volunteers, and the Canyon Lake community treated the family very well.
07/07/11 — We are still continuing our search for the body of Matthew Arzate. Our team has been on the water from dawn until dusk since June 27th Please say a prayer for our seaarchers, who have been enduring extreme heat on this search. 06/25/11 — Matthew Arzate, age 21, was last seen on June 25, 2011 in Canyon Lake, TX. He was last seen wearing white shorts. He has a tattoo on his back with the name “Arzate”.
