ATV Training — Texas EquuSearch Members Only, Saturday, March 23, 2013

03/19/13 — ATV instructors from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Parks Section have scheduled an ATV Safety Institute class for your group on Saturday, March 23, 2013, @ 8:00 a.m.  The group will need to meet at Gene Green Park and we will discuss the events of the day, including whether or not we have a lunch break prior to the trail ride.

The entrance to Gene Green Park is located in east Harris County at 6500 East Beltway 8 North, about a mile south of new Hwy 90, behind the Liberty Lakes Subdivision. Driving from I-10 East, take the East BW 8 northbound and exit Wallisville Road. Go through Wallisville Road and you will almost immediately pass an apartment complex on the service road. As you pass the neighboring apartment complex, continue looking to your right and you will see the green entrance sign to Gene Green Park. Once inside, follow the entry road all the way around to our staging area which is northwest of the parking lot. If you are driving from 59 (Eastex Frwy) on Beltway 8, continue around the Beltway until it turns into East Beltway 8 and then exit at Wallisville Road. Then u-turn and refer to the above instructions.

Try to be on time and properly clothed. In order to be properly clothed, you need to wear comfortable long sleeve pants and a long sleeve shirt. You will also need to wear a pair of boots that will cover your ankles. Make arrangements to have access to a DOT approved helmet and be sure to bring gloves to wear while riding. You don’t need to go out and spend a lot of money on fancy gloves, just have a good pair of gloves that will provide adequate protection for your hands from tree limbs and brush. Bring some type of eyewear (goggles) that will protect your eyes from the sun, but most importantly, flying debris and brush.

If you have any questions, or need to cancel the class, contact Phillip Yates at (231) 203-9191.  Hope to see everyone out there for a safe, fun day of ATV instruction!
