Butterfly Release for Ali Lowitzer, April 26, 2013, 6:00 p.m. (Details Below)

Family and friends of Alexandria “Ali” Lowitzer to mark the 3rd anniversary of her disappearance with a butterfly release at the bus stop where the Spring, TX teenager was last seen.

On April 26, 2010, around 3:00 p.m., Ali spoke with her mom, got off her school bus and excitedly headed toward her after school job, which was a quarter mile from her home, to pick up her pay check.  Ali never made it to Burger Barn and no one has seen or heard from her since.  Creature comforts that are important to all teenage girls – cell phone charger, make up, clothes, cash – all were left behind indicating that Ali had full intentions of returning home.  Due to her age and the fact that there was no evidence of foul play, law enforcement considered Ali a runaway so no police, Amber Alert, or Crime Stoppers help was immediately available for her panicked and distraught family.  A valuable window of opportunity for recovery was missed but that hasn’t stopped this family, or their community, from actively searching for her.  Eventually, law enforcement changed Ali’s classification from “runaway” to “missing” but, three years, thousands of flyers, and dozens of foot searches later and they are still no closer to finding their missing daughter.

Ali’s parents hope this beautiful event, a release of over 100 butterflies, will remind the community that their daughter is still missing, that the search for her continues, and that they will never give up hope that she will be back in their arms one day.  The butterfly release is open to the public and will take place at the corner of Knotty Post and Low Ridge in Postwood subdivision, Spring, TX on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.  More information about the butterfly release can be found at https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/410456002382155/ and more information about Ali can be found at www.alexandrialowitzer.com.  If you have any information regarding Ali’s disappearance, please contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-967-5810 and reference case # HC10-0057351.  No lead is too small and it’s NEVER too late.
