2017 Identifying Human from Non-Human Bone Course – Texas State FACTS Workshop Details

The Texas State Anthropology Center (FACTS) in San Marcos, Texas is offering a special one-day workshop for our members called “Identifying Human from Non-Human Bone.” This is a hands-on workshop designed to educate law enforcement, medicolegal death investigators, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates on the differences between human and non-human bone morphology. Participants will examine gross and microscopic differences between human and non-human bone. Basic knowledge of skeletal anatomy is required. Handouts will be provided.

LIMITED ENROLLMENT. MAX 35 seats, so book quickly. If it fills, we will request another class for another date.

LOCATION: On or near Texas State Campus. Location pending due to a facility that will open soon. They will email you the final address for the class.

LODGING SUGGESTION: Red Roof Inn, San Marcos, Texas, 817 N. Interstate 35, San Marcos, TX 78666, phone (512) 754-8899. A block of rooms will be held for EquuSearch. $109.00, plus tax, for double rooms (one car per room as parking very limited).  Other lodging available in San Marcos direct or through third-party online sites like Hotels.com. This is summer, so rooms will be expensive and scarce the closer it gets to class date. Book early.

FACTS will email class details to you after you pay/register.  Bring paper for note taking.  (Please notify the Texas EquuSearch office once you register. We will add you to a group email if you request it so we can help coordinate carpool, lodging and dinner for those interested.)
