Internationally Renowned Search and Rescue Group Deployed To Hard Hit Areas South New Orleans
(Dickinson, TX) – While New Orleans has received much of the national spotlight, other areas of southern Louisiana were devastated by Hurricane Katrina and are in dire need of emergency help.
With that in mind, Texas EquuSearch received the go ahead today from the Louisiana Governor’s office to deploy its search and rescue teams to Plaquemines and St Bernard Parishes, a large area bridging the Mississippi River between New Orleans and the gulf coast.
Texas Equusearch has sent several paramedics and many other trained volunteers equipped with a helicopter, airboats, ATVs, chainsaws, diesel generators, night vision goggles, and vision sticks to aid State Police in the search for survivors, and the recovery of victims.
In addition, Texas Equusearch has brought water and other essential items to the survivors of the hurricane through the affected region.
Based in Dickinson, Texas, Texas EquuSearch has been involved in search and recovery efforts across the country and overseas, including deployment to Sri Lanka following the massive recent tsunami. Many of the Texas EquuSearch volunteers are also experienced law enforcement officers, offering additional security advantages.
