TES teams up with Port Arthur Fire Chief on Hwy 73 Canal Project

Port Arthur Fire Chief, Larry Richard, has asked for our help in searching the outfall canal along Hwy 73 and Hwy 82. TES will conduct sonar mapping of the canal and any objects that are identified will be investigated by PAFD Divers. This is an effort to make sure that there are no unknown vehicles or possible victims in this canal prior to a traffic barrier being erected on this site. We are honored at this request and will be traveling to Port Arthur on Friday, March 9 to begin searching Saturday morning. Family members who have lost loved ones in the canal have already called expressing gratitude and support for our efforts.

3/12/2007 – We are pleased to report that we feel relatively certain that the canal has been successfully cleared. After scanning a three and a half mile stretch, we located two vehicles submerged in the canal. The two day search, using two boats and two sonar equipment units, hopefully has made it possible to ease the minds of the persons in this community before a barrier is erected along this highway. We pray that we have pulled the last vehicle that will ever go into these waters again. read more>>

Tim Miller and Texas EquuSearch would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts the good people of Arkansas City, law enforcement and the family of Jodi Sanderholm. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 Tim Miller had the honor of being invited back to Arkansas City, KS for a Texas EquuSearch “appreciation day” fund raiser. The event was held by the community for the search efforts that TES contributed in helping to find Jodi Sanderholm. It was a humbling experience for us and it shows all the good and caring that comes from small town America. Ark City, KA will never forget Jodi Sanderholm and neither will TES forget all of you. We at Texas Equusearch were overwhelmed by the public support for the family. The love support and caring by the community was most definitely on display as 1000’s of people poured into the Arkansas City High School Cafeteria for the spaghetti dinner. The endless lines of people of all ages at the event were a true testament to the community spirit and support.

Tim Miller felt it important to meet Brian and Cindy Sanderholm, the parents of Jodi. To share some of his feelings having gone through the same experiences with the loss of Laura of pain and sorrow that they will face. As Tim stated, “so many times we have a job to do and never get a chance to personally meet the families. After our mission is done we never get the opportunity to meet the family as they try to put their lives back together.” The appreciation that TES has for Ark City will not be forgotten.

The $4900 check Tuesday night and later news that more than $8000 collected from the fundraiser was amazing news. Texas EquuSearch would like to thank all that volunteered their time at the event. We would like to thank the media that came out to attend the event. Red from Scared Monkeys.com who has covered numerous missing person cases attended the event as well with Tim Miller. You can read more on event details and watch a video tribute they compiled of the fund raising event and Jodi Sanderholm at their web site.

Most importantly we would like to thank the community of Ark City and the Sanderholm family for your generosity. Your efforts have made it possible for TES to search for other missing persons. Thank you and God Bless.

2/13/2007 - Tim is recovering slowly but surely from his neck surgery performed almost one month ago. He still has difficulty swallowing and the doctors say this will take a little longer. Please keep Tim in your prayers as he continues to recover. Thank you.

Frank was admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital on Monday, 2/12/07, into intensive care with a serious lung infection. Today, 2/13/2007, he will be moved to a room and will continue to undergo testing to determine the cause of his illness. Although he seems in good spirits, it is clear that there is a great amount of concern. Please keep Frank in your thought and prayers. He is one of the most valuable, most dedicated, most thoughtful and caring persons we have on our team. We need you, Frank, hang in there. I will keep everyone updated on his condition.

02/19/2007 - Frank has been released from the hospital and is doing well. Thank you for your prayers.

Texas EquuSearch Expands Its Goals For Finding Missing Loved Ones

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with Tim Miller, who is the founder and leader of Dickinson-based search and recovery team Texas EquuSearch. You may remember reading about them in an exclusive Crime Library article Katherine Ramsland wrote last year. EquuSearch is made up of over 350 members and they have been active in over 600 missing persons searches. In recent years they received national publicity for their active participation in the disappearances of Tara Grinstead, Natalee Holloway and Renee Fox.

"I don't know how to say no. I can't do it," Tim said. "When a family calls us we know they are desperate and I do everything in my power to help them. I've been in their shoes and I know what it's like." read full story>>

Clinging to hope in hunt for lost

Three hours after Raul Mendoza left to play cards at a friend's house, his 2005 Dodge Magnum was found on a moonlit east Houston street, abandoned. His cell phone was on the front seat. A bullet had pierced the driver's side window. His family feared the worst.

As news crews gathered outside the family's house to document Mendoza's disappearance last spring, someone mentioned Texas EquuSearch, the Dickinson-based volunteer group read full story>>
