04/16/10 — We are sad to report that the remains of Stephen Bond have been located. Please keep Stephen’s family and friends in your prayers during their time of grief.

05/17/2009 – Stephen Bond, age 32, and four friends took a small boat out Horn Island, which is about 12 miles offshore.  While on the island, a storm came in.  The group decided to leave the island and head back to shore during the storm.  Approx. two miles from the island, the group realized they could not make it and tried to get back to the island.  The boat capsized. Stephen did not have a life jacket.   The other four were able to put on life jackets and were rescued by the Coast Guard by early Monday afternoon.  Stephen has not been found.  Stephen is a police officer with the Ocean Springs Police Department and a former Marine.  Stephen has a Marine Corp tattoo on the left arm, a tribal armband on the right arm & a small 4 leaf clover on the right shoulder.  If you have any information, please contact Capt. Mike Sweeny at the Ocean Springs Police Dept., 228-875-2211 or the Bureau of Marine Resources at 228-523-4134.

Thank you so very much for all of your thoughts and prayers.

Nathan, thank you. We’re hoping that the USMC made him tough enough to make it through this, lord knows 29Palms is hell in and of itself! Do you facebook? I know his wife, Angela, would love to hear from you.

Porchlight, thank you so very much as well. We don’t want him to become ‘old news’ b/c to me & my family he’s everything.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Bond family. I met Stephen in 29 Palms, California in 2002. He’s a great guy and I wish we would have kept in touch.

Please help find my big brother. I know he’s out there alive & fighting. He’s my big brother & my best friend. I know that funds are tight for people, but he would give anyone the shirt off of his back. You know, he has a little boy who just turned 7, he promised to coach his lil league football this year. He also begged his wife to give him a little girl & on Aug 10, 2009 she did. His daughter said ‘Da-Da’ for the 1st time Sunday afternoon. Stephen hasn’t heard her say it yet but she’s been saying it constantly, especially when she sees all the pictures of him around. Please find it in your hearts to help bring my brother home. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to our entire family but especially me, my grandmother, his wife, my mother, & especially his babies. Please, please, please… our family & my heart just isn’t whole without him.
